Currently, I am in my 14th year at Taylor Road Middle School, teaching Gifted and Talented Life Science classes at the 7th Grade Level. My teaching undergraduate and graduate degrees are from the University of Illinois. My Specialist Degree is from Illinois State University and Gifted Certification was received from Georgia State University. Through much diligence and and special blessings I achieved the honor of National Board Certification in Teaching Middle School Science recently. Besides teaching science, which is one of my passions, I enjoy having a family. My husband, Danny and I have a middle school daughter, Kristina and a Auburn Tiger, Michael. Our black lab, Taffee and two cats are great enjoyment for us. This year marks my one year anniversary as a cancer survivor for which I am most thankful.
Watching students discover the fun of using scientific inquiry and how it applies to their daily lives creates real meaning for "science in their world." Our science inquiry program is the result of a National Science Foundation grant that began at Georgia Tech and incorporates contributions from the U of I, Northwestern, and the University of Michigan. The training that I've received in this program has been extensive over the last five years. The new publisher is It's About Time and meets the GA Science standards.

Teaching motivated and talented young men and women is something I most enjoy! At each year's beginning my students take the Howard Gardner Seven Intelligences Inventory to help them and me best incorporate learning in the Science classroom. As each adolescent discusses their strengths with their parents, it is my hope that they further develop them throughout the school year. The Intelligence Inventory is on file, if anyone wishes to view it.
A description of these Seven Intelligences is also, available:
*Naturalist Intelligence
The Gifted and Talented Program is the integration of multiple disciplines to incorporate critical thinking skills, The TAG learning objectives are achieved through a differentiated curriculum that varies in ways that match the differences found in learners. These are addressed through various cognitive abilities, prior knowledge, level of abstraction, and developmental learning rates.
EVERY ASSIGNMENT is written on the classroom "Table of Contents"!
