*Monday: Pre-test writing assignment.
  • Choose a writing topic from the list provided. Link to the following Web site:

Writing Prompts

  • Write six sentences about the topic.
  • Check for correct punctuation, capitalization, and sentence structure.
  • Conference with teacher about assessment of piece.
*Tuesday: Discuss the four types of sentences to be covered during the program. Begin direct instruction on writing simple sentences.
  • Organize cue cards 1-7.
  • Have cue cards available during overhead presentation.
  • Follow instructions during oral presentation.
  • Do Independent Practice Lesson 1A.
  • Conference with the teacher and receive instructions.
*Wednesday: Review cue cards from previous instruction. Review four types of simple sentences. Graph progress toward mastery on previous Lessons. Continue with Lessons 2-4.
  • Have cue cards available to review pertinent information.
  • Get in Rapid Recall groups for review session and participate in review of previously introduced information.
  • Link to Discovery to create a puzzle for review.
  • Graph progress toward mastery on progress report.
  • Continue with Independent Practice Lessons 2-4, conferencing with teacher after each lesson prior to going on.
  • Take home materials to study for Friday's assessment test.
*Thursday: Continue independent practice lessons 2-4.
  • Continue working on independent practice lessons 2-4.
  • Conference with teacher to receive controlled feedback and determine where remediation needs to take place, or move on to enrichment exercises. Link to the following Web site for enrichment:

*Friday: Simple Sentence Assessment Mastery Test
  • Review all cue cards, notes, and lessons for the first 10min.
  • Take the assessment test.
  • Chose a writing topic from the list provided.

  • Write six sentences about the topic.
  • Use Writing Rubric to check/edit your work prior to turning it in.
