Day	Assignment
Monday: Formula and Basic Right Triangles	v Complete handout on Right Triangles. Be prepared to discuss how to prove the Pythagorean Theorem. Visit the following websites to help you with your decision: o Pythagorean Theorem o Animated Proof of the Pythagorean Theorem v Based upon discussions in class and the visited web sites make a square from poster board and visually prove the Pythagorean Theorem. This is due on Wednesday.
Wednesday: Distance Formula and Midpoint	v Read page 546 – 547. Complete problems 2 – 20 evens. Prepare a rough drawing of a geometric design that can be constructed by using the distance formula and midpoint. Review the following websites to give you a starting point for your design: o Purple Math Distance Formula o Midpoint of A Line Segment v Create a work space for each segment of your design to show how the lengths and midpoints were found. This is due Friday in final form.
Friday: Resources for Referrals	v Discussion of why the Pythagorean Theorem works as it does. Groups will prove the theorem using cardboard squares. v Final drawing of the geometric design using the distance formula and midpoint equations. v Be prepared to discuss the following website in class tomorrow: o Equation of a Circle o Circle Equations v Group Project – Refer to the project guidelines and the assessment rubric that wee passed out in class.
