Mrs. McCrary: About Me

Born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama (Roll Tide!!), Mrs. McCrary attended Mountain Brook High School and then entered Samford University where she graduated with a double major in English and history.  Upon graduation, she married her college honey, Barry McCrary (Yes, we know it rhymes!), and began her teaching career during the 1984-1985 school year at Jess Lanier High School.  The birth of her children interrupted her career as they came suddenly and without warning:  Catherine in 1986, Parker in 1988, and Sloan in 1990.

During her "at home" years, she taught preschool, GED classes, and headed an anti-drug program.  In August of 1994, the McCrary family moved to Alpharetta, Georgia, where Mrs. McCrary obtained a job teaching at the almost-new Taylor Road Middle School.  While at TRMS, Mrs. McCrary has taught sixth grade reading, seventh grade social studies, eighth grade reading, eighth grade Georgia history, eighth grade language arts, and eighth grade advanced/TAG language arts.

Currently divorced, she has children "all over the place" with Catherine working at a Dallas bank, and Parker and Sloan attending the University of Alabama (Roll Tide!).  Her current goal is finishing a Ph.D. program at Mercer University by the summer of 2013.
