WELCOME TO THE 6TH GRADE SPANISH CLASS

 

 

 

 

                                      ABOUT MS BLANCO

 

    I was born in Québec, Canada. I moved to Atlanta 25 years ago with my family. I am married with three children:

  Annalisa works at a marketing firm, Annemarie is a Journalism student at Georgia State University and Georgie is a

  fifth grader at Daves Creek Elementary.

 I have a Bachelor Degree in Education from Université Laval, Québec, a Certificate in French Studies from Université of

 Montréal and a Master in Education from Georgia State University.  I am fluent in both French and Spanish.

 I have been teaching French & Spanish for the past 20 years, mainly in Fulton County middle schools.

This is my 3rd year teaching World Languages at Taylor Rd Middle School and I love the students and staff. 

In my leisure time, I enjoy spending quality time with my family, outdoors activities, reading and travelling to foreign destinations.

 

 

                            

 

 

 

6TH GRADE SPANISH

 

This program is an introduction to Spanish for beginners.

 

This year, we will learn about 10 major topics:

1-    Greetings, alphabet & numbers

2-    Classroom vocabulary & school activities  

3-    Calendar & weather

4-    Leisure time activities

5-    Clothing & weather

6-    Family & celebrations

7-    Professions

8-    Food & restaurant

9-    City, house & furniture

10-Vacation & life on a farm

 

Along the vocabulary units, we will discuss cultural topics such as Spanish-speaking countries, family celebrations, Holidays, typical food & crafts.

 

Students will be assessed in a variety of tasks: oral presentation, class participation, class written assignments, homework group activities, quizzes, tests, projects

  AUGUST: UNIT 1: GREETINGS, NUMBERS, SPANISH COUNTRIES, MEXICO

    Assessment: vocabulary quiz, oral presentation.

 

  SEPTEMBER: UNIT 2: CLASS VOCABULARY & SPAIN

  Assessment: vocabulary quiz, culture quiz on Spain, illustration of Spanish classroom with Spanish labels of objects.

 

 OCTOBER & NOVEMBER:  UNIT 3: CALENDAR, WEATHER, TIME, CENTRAL AMERICA, CARIBBEAN 

 ISLANDS

Assessment: vocabulary quiz, culture quiz on Central America & Caribbean islands, unit test, weather report,

 calendar project.

 

NOVEMBER & DECEMBER: UNIT 4: LEISURE TIME ACTIVITIES & HOLIDAYS IN HISPANIC COUNTRIES
