About Me:

I grew up in Peachtree City, GA, and graduated from McIntosh High School in 1999.  I earned a Middle Grades Education degree (grades 4-8) from North Georgia College and State University (NGCSU) in Dahlonega, GA, in 2003. I am certified to teach Social Studies, Language Arts, and Reading.  Immediately after graduating, I worked as a long-term substitute for a 4th grade class at Long Branch Elementary, in Dahlonega. I began teaching at Taylor Road MS in the fall of 2004. This is my 6th year teaching at TRMS. Currently, I teach 6th grade On Level Reading and 6th grade Remedial Reading. One of my favorite parts about teaching 6th grade is going on the Epcot/Sea World field trip each year. I enjoy getting to know the kids in a different environment, and, of course, riding the roller coasters!
I married my WONDERFUL husband in July 2006, and we are the proud parents of a sweet "mutt" named Sugar and an orange tabby cat named Ireland (both adopted from the TRMS Pet Fair!). My hobbies include: hanging out with my husband and pets, spending time at the lake, listening to my ipod, reading novels, playing guitar (acoustic and Guitar Hero!), and knitting.  I am a member of Mountain Lake Church in Cumming, GA. I am a proud
LSU football fan!! GEAUX TIGERS!!
In Reading, we study many different genres and forms of literature. We'll study READ magazines, Quest non-fiction books (6th grade Social Studies and Science content-related), novels, and more. My goal is for each of my students to discover a love for reading as we improve our reading comprehension, fluency, and vocabulary. See the link to the syllabus below.
