Tips for learning Spanish

START.

Start today, don't wait until you think you have learned "enough" before you starting communicating in Spanish.

LISTEN.

Listen everywhere you have the chance of hearing Spanish. Starting in your Spanish class. But you may hear Spanish on your local radio station, on TV , in the music you play or in your own neighborhood.

USE WHAT YOU ALREADY KNOW.

Take a guess at the meaning of words that sound familiar to you. Some Spanish and English words com from the same Latin roots.

WATCH.

Watch the way Spanish speakers move their faces and hands, their gestures. You will pick up many clues.

RELAX.

It will take time. Make an effort and you will make progress every day.

TAKE CHARGE.

Be positive. Be assertive. Know that you can and will succeed. Ask questions when you don't understand what is said. Think that Spanish is a language spoken by more than 300,000,000 people in the world.

PRACTICE.

You need to go home and practice what you have done in class. You have to repeat aloud and listen to  yourself. Try to communicate in Spanish you need to talk with and listen to someone.
