What we're currently studying: Middle East (12-week unit)

We are drawing to the close of our unit on the Middle East. Our first few weeks were spent studying the geography of the area and the challenges it poses for the people living there. We also looked at the history of the region beginning with the Muslim Empire and moving through the Ottoman Empire. The last few weeks were dedicated to learning about the causes and history of the Arab-Israeli conflict. As we wrap up the unit we are studying Middle Eastern governments and looking at these countries' economies as well. The final performance assessment of the unit will be a debate.
