In the Pre Dynastic and Archaic period you will read about Sakkarah and complete the following information.

  6. Draw your favorite symbol. What does this symbol represent?

Click Return to "Old Kingdom" and scroll to "Papyrus and Lotus"

  1. The Papyrus redd was the symbol for Ancient Lower Egypt. List six things made from papyrus.
  2. What shape is the cross section of the papyrus reed? This shape is carried over into the every day life of the Egyptian. Name one example.
  3. The lotus flower was the symbol of Upper Egypt. Where was this seen in Egyptian life?

  1. List the years of the "Middle Kingdom" period.
  2. Where was the capital of Egypt moved to?
  3. Which class of people were of great concern to the pharaohs during this time?
  4. Toward the end of the Middle Kingdom the Hyksos from Asia invaded Egypt. What new skills did they bring to Egypt?

Click Return to Main Menu and scroll to "New Kingdom" and then click on Valley of the Kings.

  1. List the years of the "New Kingdom" period.
  2. When was the Valley of the Kings discovered?
  3. What determined the opulence of the tomb of a pharoah?
