Pizza Party!
Directions:
- You and four of your friends are getting together for
the evening. Combining your money, you have a total of $45. You
decide to order pizza because there is nothing in the house you
want to eat. Everyone is very, very hungry!
- After much discussion, it is decided that each pizza must
have at least two toppings.
- Using the information from your very valuable previous
lesson, decide what is the largest amount of two or more topping
pizzas that you can order. Record the size, toppings, and price
for each pizza.
- List the total on the pizzas. But wait! You have a problem!
You must include sales tax on the pizzas. The tax rate is 6%.
Find the tax on the pizzas. Do you still have enough money? If
not, go back and refigure your order. (How embarassing!)
- There is still another problem! You can't drive! You are
going to have to get the pizza delivered and you don't want to
be rude. You must give the driver a tip. Be generous and give
the driver 10% of the total amount. Do you still have enough
money? If not, go back and refigure your order (include new sales
tax and new tip!)
- Now that you have your final total, determine how much
each slice of pizza costs. (tax and tip included)
- If you eat 25% of the pizza, how many slices did you eat
and how much should you have contributed to the cost of the pizza
in order to pay your fair share?
