Kids' Health and Fitness
What do you know about fitness? How fit are you? Complete the following
activities to discover answers to these questions!
- Using the food label you have been given, determine if your food contains
fats and/or sugars. List the words from your label ingredients that show
this. How many fat grams does your product contain? How many sugar grams?
Explain whether this item would be a good one to include as a regular part
of your diet.
Visit Nutrition
and Reading
Food Labels for information.
- Healthy lungs are a must for good health. Should the U.S. government
make rules and regulations concerning smoking to discourage smoking in
young people? Visit Kid's
Vote on Smoking to send your opinion on tobacco regulations.
After completing the opinion poll, list several rules that you strongly
support. Are there any rules or regulations which you disagree with? Use
a chart with two columns to state your opinions.
- Take the Health
Heart IQ test and the Blood IQ test. Report your scores as the number
correct/total questions.
For each question you missed, explain what you learned.
- Test your level of physical fitness. Visit the fitness
components site to determine the basic components of fitness. Name
the five components of fitness and how each can be tested.
- Using the Health
Word List site, choose three words to investigate. What did you learn
and how does each word apply to you?
