Math 8 and Math 8A - Ms. H. Smith & L. Smith  


We will be reinforcing concepts necessary for the final exam (5/21) and the successful completion of Math 8.                             

Mrs. Lois Smith has help sessions every morning that start at 7:30, and every evening except “Fried day

 

PHYSICAL SCIENCE

Physical Science – Mr. R  LOULA    

With CRCT testing finally completed, we can get back to the final four weeks of our regular science curriculum.

We will finish the year with Magnetism/Electromagnetism and Sound.

Progress reports will go home Monday the 28th of April.

Dr. Anderson from Georgia Tech will be here for his Liquid Nitrogen demonstration on Tuesday the 29th.

There is a test on Monday April 28th on chapter 15 (waves).

 

We will begin chapter 3 on "The Periodic Table" on Wednesday.

Language Arts - Mrs. Karen DeSousa

  • On Monday, April 28th, the classes will be having a test on the Sneaky Tricks and Whopping Lies unit, which contains six stories.  They should refer to their review sheet.
  • To get them prepared for the summer (which may entail getting a job), we will be working on:

1.    A business letter

2.    A job application

3.    A résumé

4.    A speech/presentation

Advanced class:

  • The above assignments
  • They should have completed Tom Sawyer and should be working on their presentation, which is due on May 7th.  All students should be prepared for this date.  You can refer to their rubric and instructions for their assignment.  This will count as a test and a project grade. 

Please check their work to ensure that they have followed the directions carefully.

 

Reading

READING - Mary D VanSchepen

We will be reading “The Outsiders” from now until the end of school.

One big test left for the 8th graders in reading.

 

Social Studies

 

Social Studies – Ms D Pompey

My class will turn in a project on chapter 11 on this Friday.

By the middle of next week, we will begin Unit 5, which consists of chapters 12 & 13.  More than likely there will be a project for this unit. 

The last three weeks of the school year will be focused on chapters 14-16 (Unit 6).
